El director general de Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX), Octavio Romero Oropeza, anunció que la refinería Olmeca, situada en Dos Bocas, Tabasco, ha comenzado a refinar petróleo crudo en etapas intermedias. Durante el mes de julio, ha logrado una producción promedio de 100 mil barriles diarios, marcando así su primer aporte significativo a la oferta nacional de combustibles.
El subdirector de evaluación y cumplimiento regulatorio de PEMEX Transformación Industrial (TRI), Reinaldo Wences, informó que al finalizar julio, el Sistema Nacional de Refinación (SNR) operará con un total de siete refinerías, incluyendo la Olmeca, y alcanzará un nivel de procesamiento cercano a 1 millón 100 mil barriles diarios.
Según el informe trimestral de la empresa, en el segundo trimestre de 2024, el Sistema Nacional de Refinación promedió 886 mil barriles diarios de crudo, lo que implica un aumento de 60 mil 500 barriles, o un 7.3% más en comparación con el mismo período del año anterior.
“Se estima que este 2024, las seis refinerías actuales procesen un millón de barriles, más una contribución promedio de 160 mil barriles diarios de la Olmeca. No cabe duda la escena es muy distinta, en septiembre próximo el proceso de crudo se ubicará en 1.7 millones de barriles un 233% más a lo observado en diciembre de 2018”, indicó Romero Oropeza.
El incremento registrado en el segundo trimestre es resultado del mejor desempeño en las refinerías de Salina Cruz, Salamanca y Madero al registrar los siguientes niveles de proceso con un total de 227 mil barriles diarios, 143 mil y 127 mil, respectivamente.
“Se avanzó en la consolidación del plan de rehabilitación y mantenimiento oportuno en el Sistema Nacional de Refinación (SNR) para recuperar su capacidad y optimizar su operación, con resultados positivos en el proceso de crudo”, precisó Reinaldo Wences.
Romero Oropeza comentó ante medios de comunicación e inversionistas que PEMEX ha dado importantes pasos en el cumplimiento de sus compromisos adquiridos, sobre todo en materia de autosuficiencia energética.
En este sentido, durante el segundo trimestre del año, la producción de los combustibles de transporte fue de 269 mil barriles diarios en el caso de las gasolinas, 164 mil de diésel y 30 mil de turbosina, lo cual significó un avance trimestral de 22% y 20% para el caso de las gasolinas y el diésel.
“En estos casi seis años han estado llenos de retos y satisfacciones, la condición en la que se encontró a esta empresa exhibía serios problemas operativos y una débil condición financiera. En un entorno de cambio de administración, PEMEX se encuentra lista para enfrentarse a nuevos retos, con los esfuerzos realizados hoy tenemos una empresa productiva del Estado más fuerte”, enfatizó el directivo.
